Energy Company Obligation 4 Consultation
The Department for Business, Energy and Industry Strategy (BEIS) released their plans for ECO4 back in July of this year. This consultation outlined proposals to the way funding is qualified with a focus on buildings with the worst EPC ratings due to begin in April 2022.
As regulators of the energy efficiency sector, Ofgem are a key part of this ECO4 process. On the 5th of October, they published their response to this Consultation, releasing a document to their website outlining their answers to 99 questions which all relate to ECO4. You can read their stance on such matters as:
- Should ECO target SAP band D, E, F and G homes?
- The proposed methodology for converting ECO3 bill savings into ECO4 bill savings
- Using deflated partial project scores for ongoing projects, ahead of completion
If you are interested in looking into Ofgem’s response in full, you can access the document here.
The ECO4 Consultation and its implementation has triggered potential opportunities within the Energy Assessment Industry, particularly concerning Domestic Energy Assessors, Retrofit Assessors, Coordinators and Designers involved in PAS2035.
