Which is the right course for me?

DEA Distance Learning

This course is available as a distance learning programme. You will be given access to our unique online learning environment so you can study from anywhere in the world at your own pace. You will be assigned your own personal mentor who will guide you through the entire qualification process.

DEA Upskill Course

Please note, this course is a mandatory requirement for all existing DEAs to "top-up" their existing skills & knowledge to continue practicing past April 2012. This course can be taken online or as a 1 day classroom based course. No portfolio is required but an online multiple choice exam will need to be taken at a venue of your choice.

3 Day DEA Course

This Course is our most popular as it includes 3 days of hands-on classroom based training with an experienced tutor. This course is ideal for anyone who wants to be come a Domestic Energy Assessor, no previous experience necessary. This course also includes the Mandatory DEA Upskill exam.

Distance Learning DEA Upskill 3 Day DEA Course

Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) Training 3 Day £1,490.00 inc VAT

This 3 day classroom based course will give you the skills required to survey buildings and produce accurate Energy Performance Certificates for domestic dwellings. These EPCs are required to be produced by law when a property is Sold, Let, Built and as part of the governments new Green Deal Scheme. EPCs are also required for all Solar PV installations.

There is a requirement for the candidate to produce a portfolio of 5 sample properties which can be carried out remotely after attending the course in their own time. This course also includes unlimited attempts at the DEA up skill exam which is now mandatory for all new and existing DEAs.

  • Using RdSAP Software
Day 2
  • Heating & Lighting
  • Renewable Energy Sources
  • Compiling information for the Portfolio
  • Guidance for Solar PV Installers
  • Green Deal Workshop
Day 3
  • The professional requirements to operate as an accredited DEA
  • The technical knowledge required to meet current domestic energy assessment requirements
  • Changes in RdSAP methodology as reflected in Version 9.91
  • Appropriate checks to avoid common errors
  • Tailoring recommendations to characteristics of building
  • Differences between previous and current (April 2012) EPC
  • Nature and purpose of Green Deal recommendations
  • DEA Upskill Exam - unlimited attempts
